File conversion guide: formats, quality and errors
Choose between JPG and PNG, make PDFs, convert JSONL and troubleshoot file errors. Learn how to select a file, set options and save the result.
Find a compatible conversion
Add a file on the home page to see supported conversion options. The available tools depend on its extension and structure; not every file can be converted to every format.
You can also search by a tool name or an extension such as JPG, PDF or JSONL. Renaming the extension alone does not convert a file.
From file selection to download
1. Select an input file supported by the tool. 2. Review the available quality, background or page options. 3. Run the conversion. 4. Download the result and compare it with the original. Options vary by tool.
Choose JPG, PNG or WEBP
For smaller photo files, consider JPG or WEBP. For a transparent background, use PNG or a WEBP tool that preserves transparency. Converting PNG to JPG fills transparent areas with a background color.
Repeated lossy compression cannot restore detail. Keep the original and check text edges and colors. The GIF to PNG tool saves the first frame, not the whole animation.
Understand what the output contains
Creating a PDF from images places pictures on pages; it does not perform OCR or create searchable text. Extracting text from a document may lose its table layout and pagination.
Each non-empty JSONL line must contain a complete JSON value. The JSONL to JSON tool reports an invalid line instead of silently dropping it.
Fix rejected or slow files
Check the required input format and file size limit. If the extension and content disagree, or the file is damaged, save a fresh copy in the original application. Protected PDFs and unsupported archive methods cannot be processed.
Try smaller batches and close other tabs to free memory. A small file can still exceed pixel or decompression limits. Follow the error message and keep a separate copy of the original.
